Ebony is a rare wood that primarily comes from several different tree species native to tropical and subtropical regions around the world, such as Africa, Asia, and South America. Responsible artisans now use ebony wood from sustainable sources or managed forests, or even alternative species such as Mozambique ebony or Macassar ebony.
