Kimi Duck
Kimi Duck — also known as Kiki or Kiwi due to customer typos — has been tattooing for over 12 years.
She started working in the tattoo industry in high school and found a piercing apprenticeship at 18. At 19, she joined a shop as a piercer before becoming a tattoo apprentice in the same shop a few months later. Then began a long adventure of 11 years at Kawaii Place, which is far from over!
Her very first tattoo? A magnificent "fuck" tattooed on Greg's toes.
Her preferred style is blackwork, with a strong preference for fine lines. She particularly enjoys floral motifs and Japanese inspirations, and won't say no to a touch of porcelain blue.
She mainly draws her inspiration from Japanese prints, preferring to focus on the work of artists who use media other than skin.
Due to arm problems causing pain in certain areas, she has chosen to prioritize her health and no longer tattoos the upper arm, chest, back, or neck.
What she particularly loves to tattoo: flowers, of course, but also birds and Japanese motifs.
As for reading inspirations, she recommends La Dame aux camélias by Dumas fils, Les Étoiles de Noss Head and Felicity Atcock by Sophie Jomain, Les Sœurs Essex by Éloïsa James, and Hadès et Perséphone by Scarlett St Clair.
In art, she cites Orlan and particularly La réincarnation de Sainte Orlan, a work that profoundly influenced her interest in body modification.
In cinema: Beverly Hills Chihuahua, for public utility.
Musically, her tastes are eclectic: Otis Redding, In Flames, Ghost, Maureen, Sexy Sushi, and Deee-Lite. Enough to create a complete playlist!
