Amazing Gerard

Amazing Gerard
Amazing Gerard, also known as Géraaard or Le Gégé, has been tattooing for 20 years now, and he's been with us at the shop for 5 of those years!
He discovered tattooing very early in his childhood through his father's friends, who were heavily tattooed for their time, and naturally decided to become a tattoo artist at the age of 13.
At 20, he began his first apprenticeship as a piercer, then finally as a tattoo artist. He then tattooed for 5 years in Paris, during which he specialized in American traditional. He then spent 6 years in Copenhagen, Denmark, where his style became more refined and assertive.
He joined the Kawaii Place team almost 5 years ago; time flies when you're having fun in GG's excellent company!
His very first tattoo? A nautical star on his best friend.
His preferred style is American traditional, with an increasingly strong attraction to Japanese traditional.
Among his inspirations are Rafa de Craneo, Toy Arthur, and Mike Dorsey.
Outside of tattooing, he practices drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting, as well as guitar and music in general.
He does not tattoo ribs, necks, or fingers, and also refuses to tattoo umbrellas ("it's an object created by Satan, like all animals in Australia").
What he particularly enjoys tattooing: female faces and animals, in his traditional style, of course.
For inspiration, he recommends Kentaro Miura's manga Berserk, Pacome Thiellement's book Tu m’as donné de la crasse et j’en ai fait de l’or, as well as the films Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Alien 3, and Dark City.
