THE SHOP
Kawaii Place is a close-knit team of a dozen passionate professionals: three managers, three piercers, and seven tattoo artists!
The shop has been in Lille for over 10 years, a decade of experiences, projects, encounters, and shared energy that allows us to offer you our unique expertise in piercing and tattooing.
Our goal has always been the same: to ensure you have a great experience, from the first contact until healing :)
The shop is located in Lille at 38 rue des Postes, between the Wazemmes district and République Beaux Arts & Sébastopol squares.
The quality of our welcome, our kindness, and the great atmosphere at the shop are among the most frequently mentioned points in our over 1,000 positive Google reviews!
THE TATTOO
Each tattoo artist at Kawaii Place has their own universe and years of experience. You can view this page which presents them in more detail :)
LeSeb Bing has over 10 years of tattooing experience, as his career began when the shop first opened. Seb is our best technician; no complicated placement or complex project fazes him. He prefers blackwork and colored Japanese styles.
Kimi Duck specializes in fineline tattooing. No color for her, except for porcelain blue which she likes to sprinkle in her floral and Japanese-inspired work.
Belzebiche specializes in pop culture & anime, but more generally, her thing is colors, with an 's' because she has quite a palette in her creations.
Mylène Obscurae, on the other hand, doesn't use color except for an occasional touch of red. Her style is close to neo-traditional in black and grey, with a strong preference for female portraits.
Manu Ego also doesn't use color, except for a touch of turquoise dubbed "Manu blue" at the shop, as it was his signature for a long time. His style is closer to neo-traditional in black and grey with a dot-work touch (a tattooing technique that involves creating gradients with small dots, to put it simply).
Vlad Morgan is our specialist in colorless realism, with a preference for human and animal portraits.
Amazing Gérard is the latest addition to the team, joining almost 3 years ago. He specializes in traditional tattoos, with or without color.
Every tattoo project is unique in our eyes and is subject to a personalized study and follow-up with the chosen artist.
Of course, we only use sterile needles and inks that comply with current European standards. All our artists often do small tattoos at the shop outside of their assigned styles. This part of our work is highlighted on a second Instagram page, Kawaii Street, which you can discover by clicking here.
THE GUESTS
In addition to our resident tattoo artists, we regularly host guest artists at the shop. These are tattoo artists who visit us for a few days or a week, sometimes every 2 to 3 months, and sometimes only once a year. They are all established artists, carefully selected by us based on their graphic style and the quality of their work. We are therefore fortunate to offer you the work of these international artists, all recognized in their preferred style. THE PIERCING
Kawaii Place, on the piercing side, means, for example, over 1000 earlobes pierced per year, lobes which represent nearly a third of all the different piercings we perform.
It's an understatement to say our piercers are experienced: their combined experience totals 31 years!
Approximately 5 years of respective experience for Mr Godon and Holy Flavy, while Nico has been practicing his profession with passion and ethics for over 20 years.
Each has their preferences: Mr Godon loves doing septums (and his cats), Flavy is a fan of symmetries (and her cats), and Nico prefers atypical placements (and his cats too).
We never use piercing guns, and we have already explained why (in this article); we still do not recommend it today. No reputable professional with a minimum of ethics and professional conscience would offer gun piercings.
There are two types of needles: those specifically designed for piercing and better known as Blades, which we import from the USA and use under strict hygienic conditions. There are also catheter-type needles, which are absolutely not designed for piercing. As with piercing guns, no reputable and well-trained professional uses catheters.
All our initial jewelry is made of titanium or 14K and 18K gold. We have carefully selected them for their quality and biocompatibility. We work with renowned brands and regularly update our collections.
Never hesitate if you have an issue with your piercing: just visit the shop without an appointment. We are open Monday to Saturday, and our piercers will be present to give you advice and provide individual follow-up on your healing process.
THE MANAGERS (aka the Dobbys):
Last but not least, the managers! The unsung heroes, they are the glue that holds the entire team together and orchestrate everything that happens behind the scenes.
Behind the scenes means managing 6 tattoo artists' schedules, 3 piercers' schedules, and obviously managing guest artists visiting the shop, welcoming and informing you in a good atmosphere, all while juggling the phone, handling the very numerous emails and messages that we make sure to respond to within a maximum of 24 to 48 hours. We also add a bit of accounting, ordering and restocking jewelry, an active presence on all possible and imaginable social networks, while continuing to develop the website... and a thousand other details that keep the shop running smoothly and not in circles!
(But it also means filling and emptying the dishwasher 36 times a week and chasing after tattoo artists who leave their dirty cups in the four corners of the shop; it also means ensuring a constant supply of tea, coffee, and plenty of snacks, under penalty of immediate strike. In short, it's also a job where we don't spare ourselves!)
