The meaning of flowers in tattoos

The meaning of flowers in tattoos

Do you want a tattoo of/with flowers but can't choose one in particular? Do you want your tattoo to have a meaning but not be immediately obvious? Are you simply curious? There are so many things you can do with tattoos, the choice is yours! So why stick to the classic (but timeless) rose :)

Each month of the year is associated with one or more flowers, which in turn have a meaning. To put it simply:

September: Aster

October: Marigold

November: Chrysanthemum

December: Holly and Paperwhite Narcissus

January: Carnation and Snowdrop

February: Violet and Iris

March: Daffodil

April: Sweet Pea and Daisy

May: Lily of the Valley

June: Rose

July: Delphinium

August: Poppy and Gladiolus

If you want to avoid the "classic" birth date tattoo in Roman numerals or otherwise, this can be a rather interesting alternative!

We also get requests for group tattoos, for example, three people who each have a different flower and get the same small bouquet with these flowers combined, and the result is quite lovely :)

As for the meanings, they can be numerous and are not based on anything concrete/scientific other than oral tradition, but here are some ideas:

September: Aster symbolizes love, elegance, and delicacy.

October: Marigold is the flower associated with sorrow and despair... But don't panic, it's edible (yes, for me that makes up for the rest).

November: The chrysanthemum symbolizes friendship, eternity, and abundance.

December: Holly represents insensitivity, coldness, and self-esteem.

January: The carnation is the symbol of love, pride, beauty, purity, distinction, or even fascination. The snowdrop is synonymous with hope.

February: Violet symbolizes modesty. Iris corresponds to faith, courage, and wisdom.

March: The yellow daffodil represents unrequited love, rebirth, and new beginnings. The white, however, symbolizes egotism (A tendency to analyze one's own physical and moral personality in detail).

April: The sweet pea symbolizes modesty and simplicity, while the daisy symbolizes innocence and purity.

May: Lily of the Valley is the symbol of chastity, humility, and happiness. The lily symbolizes purity and majesty.

June: The rose is the flower of love and appreciation, but also of gratitude.

July: Delphinium symbolizes an open heart and ardent affection, but also lightness.

August: Poppy is the symbol of eternal sleep and nothingness, but also of imagination. Gladiolus, meanwhile, represents strength of character.

All flowers have one or more meanings, not just those related to birth months, it's important to know this. However, nothing prevents you from choosing a flower simply for its appearance and because you like it very much. A quick Google search will provide you with loooong lists where you can choose the flower of your dreams based on its visual appeal and its meaning, and turn it into a beautiful tattoo :)
