Tattoos on the inside of the lips: what you need to know!
Inner Lip Tattoo: What you need to know!
We get a lot of requests for this type of tattoo, so here's some information to know before you take the plunge!
It's hard to be more discreet than this tattoo, but unfortunately, we'll have to add a small caveat along the way.
At the shop, we agree to tattoo this location provided you choose a very simple, not overly detailed design, and avoid words longer than 4/5 letters. It's the same for any location, and we can't say it enough: details = large size, small size = simplicity!
As for healing, you'll also need to avoid too many mouthwashes, rounds of shots the same evening, and nicotine. Consider your new tattoo like a wound: don't scratch your tattoo, don't roll it in the mud, don't fiddle with it with dirty hands to show your friends.
And here's the main problem with this tattoo: aging!
As with finger tattoos, you shouldn't expect a perfect result in 50 years. If you're ready to accept that a tattoo changes and evolves over time, then no worries, go for it!
But you need to be aware that an inner lip tattoo doesn't hold up very well in the medium/short term; it's a mucous membrane and not skin, so the result will be much less clear from the start—you have to expect that. While it heals much faster than a design on the skin, an inner lip tattoo unfortunately tends to fade and disappear over time.
It remains a very nice location for discretion, but we'll have to forget about photo-realistic portraits of grandma ![]()
If you've weighed the pros and cons and are ready to go for it, we're waiting for you at the shop!
