The Snake Eyes: Good or bad idea?

The Snake Eyes: Good or bad idea?

At the shop, we are regularly asked if we do the Snake Eyes and the answer is no, we will explain why, don't panic!

This piercing is located at the tip of the tongue and crosses its end horizontally. It's called the snake eyes because the two balls of the piercing at the tip of the tongue would resemble eyes and a snake's head.

The snake eyes is not recommended for several reasons, the most obvious of which is... that it can severely damage teeth and gums!
This is not very surprising, but you need to be aware that the damage caused by this piercing will not happen overnight; it's over months and years that your tooth enamel will crack/break apart and your gums will recede. And at that point, it will unfortunately be too late to go back.

The "classic" tongue piercing causes much less damage, with appropriate jewelry and if you don't play with it, however.

Another very important point, the tongue is made up (among other things, of course) of two independent muscles running lengthwise. By piercing horizontally through these two muscles and "connecting" them with jewelry, this can have major consequences on the mobility and function of the tongue. Along with problems with tongue mobility, speech disorders can also appear in some people.

Last point, this kind of piercing is often done with Teflon jewelry due to the size and flexibility that the placement requires. And what is Teflon? Plastic that is absolutely not implantable in the skin or mucous membranes, so it is definitely a bad idea as far as we are concerned.

Since the snake eyes is done on the tip of the tongue, we must also add a risk of rejection or even tearing out of the jewelry, and honestly, you don't want to see the result.

We therefore strongly advise against this piercing; it's not worth the risks involved.
