Anodization
Anodizing, what is it?
Anodizing is simply the process we use to change the color of jewelry in minutes!
We regularly get questions about this, so here's some info:
Anodizing is only possible on titanium (or niobium); it's not possible at all with "surgical steel." We use quotation marks because this term doesn't designate anything special; "surgical steel" is far from being used in surgery: it's just a type of metal that isn't standardized for implantation in the body.
The best way to know if jewelry is steel? Very simple, the cheaper it is, the worse the quality.
Anyway, back to our anodizing!
It's not about plating a color onto the titanium jewelry or covering it with another alloy. Titanium has a unique property: it reacts to the electric current flowing through it (electrolysis bath).
The result? A beautiful color that changes with the voltage!
It only takes a few seconds to get blue, green, or even a beautiful gold, rose gold, or copper for example, which allows us to offer you a beautiful range of different colors on your initial piercing jewelry, and without extra cost
A quick note about black: technically speaking, black is not a color!
To get black jewelry, it's much more complicated than anodizing. This means that when you see cheap black jewelry, it's definitely a poor-quality plating that will eventually wear off with skin contact and can cause redness, swelling, irritation...etc.
Don't hesitate to ask us to anodize your jewelry; it's included in the price of your piercing, and you can have a wide range of color variations.
