Article: Are you struggling with the healing of your piercing?

Are you struggling with the healing of your piercing?

If you're having trouble healing your Helix, the reason may be below!

First of all, you should know that a cartilage piercing can take up to a year to heal, that's normal, your body works at its own pace ^^

One of the most common reasons for healing bugs is when a ring is placed early or too early. No ring on cartilage before 6 to 8 months of healing, and if you want to know why it's in this other blog article.

You played the game and you put a straight bar on your Helix for 6 months, but you are still struggling?

It may be due to the material of the jewelry! To avoid any risk of allergic reaction, you must use good quality titanium :)

An allergic reaction is not necessarily the ear that triples in size, it can just be redness, irritation, lymph, itching...etc. We avoid steel which is still not surgical, we also avoid Teflon and bad 'gold' plating sold in jewelry stores.

If there is a very thin layer of gold on the jewelry, the material underneath is often very crappy and full of nickel. If it is not the jewelry itself or its material, then you have to look elsewhere:

Maybe it's due to the way the piercing was done, with a gun (something you should definitely not do) or with a needle? This could be linked to the angle of the piercing, if you slept on it too early then maybe the canal was diverted?

Do you regularly use dyes that come into contact with the piercing? Did you take a hit on it? Do you regularly wear headphones, motorcycle helmets or even riding helmets?

In short, you will have understood, if there is a problem with healing then it is important to understand the origin, otherwise it will not heal...never. Do not hesitate to go to a competent piercer to understand the problem and solve it if you run out of ideas!

A good professional will know how to ask you the right questions and offer you treatments to help you. Oh, and it's rarely a great idea to follow the advice of strangers on the internet to put cat pee on a full moon night on your piercing so that it heals...

PS: a healing bug ≠ an infection! Disinfecting an uninfected piercing is not helpful and may even be the cause of the problem because alcohol-based disinfectants will only inflame the area. The physio serum is sufficient in the vast majority of cases.
